Monthly theme suggestion:
December – Winter, Holiday, Snow
December runs one year behind to allow us to have our calendar ready for purchase before the end of the calendar year.
So for example:
December 2016 photos will be voted on this month as normal and the winner of that vote will be the December crab for the 2018 calendar that will go on sale December 2017.
Non participation months:
If there is a month where no photos are entered, random photos will be selected by the CSJ
admin from previous entries to fill the vacant spots.
The photo for the cover of the annual calendar is also chosen by vote. All of the monthly winners will be entered in the year end voting, including the December winner.
The winner of Cover Crab is awarded with a free copy of the calendar. Anyone may purchase a copy of their own from our Cafepress store.
Items featuring individual winners will be available for sale as well. You can request your photo on a specific item by contacting CSJ Admin.

This is Cray, my big female. She has been with me for 6 1/2 years. She is the alpha crab, queen of the crabitat. She was purchased in Petsmart, and I had her in a 10 gallon tank (upgraded to a 20 gal when I got Tiny 5 mos. later), by herself for 5 months. She was a medium crab at that time. (she now resides in a 75 gallon with two medium crabs) I implemented the post purchase stress syndrome, (as I have done for all 7 of my crabs) and they are healthy and happy. Cray is very large, in between large/jumbo size. To me, she is very sweet, to her tank mates, she can be bossy, pushy, and moody. First time I picked her up, she “complained” very loudly! I gave her a piece of banana, and we bonded. Cray has only pinched me once, but, it was my fault. I held a piece of food out to her, she started backing up, but I kept trying to feed it to her. She was not interested in the food, but I persisted. She then reached over with her feeding claw, (i thought she was going to take the food) and pinched me, not hard, but enough to let me know she was not happy about me trying to force feed her. A few seconds later, she let go, turned, and walked away. I apologized to her, and I never did it again. I have held her since then, but she never pinched me again.
