Hey Beth and Kayla, How are your Hermit crabs today? Do you guys know anyone selling a Big tank for Cheap? If you do can they get it into Canada? My Hermit crabs are very good. Most of them are still under ground though.
Max is doing fine. She is back to being a vibrant purple-y color and is as happy as can be. And as for the tank, I do not know anyone selling a tank. Sorry.
That’s Great max is back to normal! I am still in suspense over one of my crabs that is ISO because she has a unhardened eco and she ended up by digging again but this is the first time I have ever really been worried about it. I am sure she will come up fine!
My medium sized crab was under for 4 weeks and came up almost 2 weeks ago. I noticed he didn’t look like he was quite finished with his molt. He ate, and drank, and went to the other end of the tank and has been under the sand since then. I don’t know why he did that, he never came up and went back down before. I can see his shell from the side of the tank, I have a towel there to keep it dark for him. Maybe he wasn’t happy where he dug and decided to move. Who knows? Only he does, and he’s not talking!
Ha ha. Yeah crabs are pick with there habits. I have been meaning to ask but are molts seasonal? This is the fist time I have seen almost ALL of my crabs under ground. I haven’t had them for a year yet but almost. Will it possibly happen again next year at the same time?
HURRAH! My little guy Simon just came up from under ground with……… A fully hardened Eco skeleton! I have moved him to the main tank. S000000 excited! I will post pictures later.
Hey I just realized,
This was Simon’s first molt!!!! HURRAY!!! I think I will take them all out to play to celebrate! I will give them a new type of food too
How is Max today?
YAY! you guys will NOT believe how much my crab colony has grown….. any guesses?
Seasonal molts? Hmmm……….crabs pretty much molt when they need to, I guess you can have “group” molts, but they molt to grow, not just because their tankmates are molting.
I know that but this winter has been the first time they had all gone under together and it seems alot of other peoples crabs seem to have been going under mass molt as well.
