Tagged: HELP EMERGENCY molting
I just recently went through all my substrate, for I have had crabs molting in it for a few months now. I am planning on cleaning the tank, so I was moving non-molting crabs to an iso tank and waiting for the molters to emerge. It has been a few months since I have transferred the last crab to the iso tank, and I should have about 5 crabs molting or presumed dead. When going through my sub, I found only 3 shells and a ton of molting remains. Mathematically, I should have found 5 crabs dead or alive, but I found 3. The 3 shells I found had exo remains inside of them and DIDN’T SMELL. I know what a molting smell and a dead crab smell is.
Problem: I have 2 missing crabs, and 3 that I didn’t know what happened to.
Idea: The isopods in my tank picked the 3 crabs clean after they died, resulting in NO smell and only some pieces of exo.
Can anyone help me? I am thinking the isopods have something to do with this, but so many people say they’re safe.
Stacy? Any input?
Max due to a glitch no one can see your original post. Can you repost as a comment until I can figure this out?
Sorry for the late response, Stacy. I have found out the issue to my problem.
What do you think happened?
How would one go about deleting this post? I don’t want anyone wasting their time trying to solve a problem that’s already solved
