    I adopted 3 unwanted PPs just over a week ago. They were not in great shape and their tank was the usual pet store nightmare. Instead of dumping out the hermit crab (calci sand) sand I decided to use it to educate. I put the dry sand in a bowl and planned to mist it daily, as hermit crab owners are instructed to do by pet stores, FMR and other sources. I wanted to clearly demonstrate how the sand clumps and then turns to cement when damp or wet.

    Here is the outcome:
