ParticipantIs there a journal section here? I can’t seem to find it… if there is, could someone please move this topic to the necessary section and provide me a link for it? Thanks!
-=Journal Update=-
Subject: Deep Clean! So it’s been a while since I’ve done a deep clean for my little ones, so I decided that it was time for a deep clean! I was amazed at how my little ones are still active and seem to be adventurous as they were when I first got them (I s’pose they aren’t bored with my crabitat setups, thank goodness!)
My house is adorned with tanks! I currently have my 55 gallon crabitat, another 55 gallon freshwater community tank, and a 10 gallon freshwater shrimp community tank! Not only that, but I also set my TV and various monitors around the house to have a nice aquarium-like display. I’ll have to take pictures or even post a video of how my house looks!
Anyway, back to the hermit crabs, they seem very happy with their new tank set up, they’ve already ravaged through the sand, digging new tunnels and making a mess of everything! Hahahaha 🙂
Here are a couple pictures:

Subject: View of the Living Room with all TanksWell, here’s a video of the tanks in my house. There are Three digital tanks (TV, and two monitors), two 55 gallon tanks, and one 10 gallon tank. Hope you enjoy!

I’ve also included a picture:

ParticipantJust found one of the bigger shells was moved from one side of the tank all the way to the other side of the tank! Odd thing is, none of my hermit crabs are big enough to fit in the said shell! . . . Those little buggers! =P

ParticipantSeems to me that there aren’t any, yet… I s’pose this will have to do for the time being. Or, start using journals at HermitCrabAssociation.com hehe . . . or better, BOTH! 😀

ParticipantNew video! . . . none-hermit crab related, although…they are still invertebrates! 🙂

MemberWOW! Great pics and video! I need to do a deep cleaning as well, but my medium hermit crab is still molting, so, it has to wait until he decides to come up. My big girl came up last Wednesday after 70 days, she looks so beautiful and vibrant! I had to pick her up today and tell her how much I missed her! I also have a little guy residing in a 20 gallon tank, and I want to get them all together in the 40 gallon. The big girl is a bit of a bully, I have to make sure she spends more time with the tiny guy before I let them live together. I think it took her 3 months to finally “tolerate” the medium crab. For now, I let them play together for a few minutes every few days. The medium crab is getting used to the little one, but the big one is going to take a little longer. Yes, the cholla wood is MUCH more expensive in the pet stores! I get mine from The Hermit Crab Patch. Deep cleanings also mean new set up, and mine also get very active exploring after I change the set up. Thanks for the great ideas!

ParticipantBeth: Thank you so much for viewing!! 🙂
Crab Patch sell some pretty nice items at very affordable prices 🙂 (it’s where I get my food from!) . . . unfortunately, that’s the only thing I buy from them, hehehe…
I like being able to pick out my choya wood, and by shopping online, it rules that out =P I usually buy my choya wood from Michael’s craft stores, because they sell them pretty cheap as well. ($3.99 for 10-12 inches). And since it’s a store, I get to pick out which pieces I like hehehe!!
I too, like to re-arrange my crabitat setup whenever I do a deep clean (my tank is due for a deep clean pretty soon, yikes!)
I made an article here before, (back when this forum was still using the older style, I guess the article didn’t make it through the conversion process) . . . but it involved adding fake plants (mainly the leaves) onto jungle vines, to give it a more “marsh”-like look. I’ll have to re-make that article… but that means that I need to get new pictures, as I probably no longer have those pictures on my laptop heh. =P We’ll see.
And oh my goodness, it sounds like you have many tanks for your hermits! I only have 2. One is the 55 gallon tank, which is where all the hermits live in, and they all seem to get along really well (thank goodness!) . . . and then there’s my isolation tank, which… barely gets use these days hehehe…

ParticipantEDIT.. turns out, that the article DID make it through the conversion! Click this link:

ParticipantUGH… upon further inspection, it turns out that the pictures I used in that article are WAY TOO BIG… and now they aren’t displaying correctly. I’m gonna have to talk to Stacy about that… 🙁
