This problem has been solved. I think it was the humidity…
Thank you guys for your help!!!
It’s OK: I kind of doubt he was still alive. I got two new crabs (Fawkes and Cupid the II) two weeks ago and they’re doing great! Unfortunately, I found another dead crab last night named Rocky. All three were dried up and NOT surface molters. I can tell because the bit left inside didn’t move when touched. I now think the problem was the water. I had been using bottled, and I never realized I needed to dechlorinate the water. I have done that now, and everything’s back to normal.
Thanks for your help!
Thanks for your help. On Friday I picked up my hermit crab and I saw a dried body fall out! I could still see a little bit of him deep on the shell, so I threw that out, too. Now I’m worried that he was still alive! Do you think he still was? And I’m now down to one crab. Maybe it was the humidity… Please help!
