I offer the usuals, carrots, strawberries, cherries & blueberries but raspberries are by far my crew’s favorite. I dehydrate everything, reduce them to a powder in an old coffee grinder and mix it all together with a little organic coconut. Few self-respecting crabs will pass up the aroma of coconut so use it to your advantage. πŸ˜‰

Ok ladies, I’m in trouble now. His Highness is already upset with me because he can no longer see the tv…but he CAN see my computer monitor and he doesn’t have a hamster wheel!

Hey Carol! Great to see you out and about! Its been a while… a long wile. So glad Mr Jonathon is doing well, and such a gorgeous fella!

Crawdaunt celebrated his 20th anniversary with us last month. My crew has grown a bit the last few years, I have 20 crabs now. I’ve often wished that I could give mine that much liberty but in this house, it just wouldn’t be safe. They have been seen hanging out in the dog crate though. πŸ˜€

Thanks for the heads-up, a couple of things on the list I needed.

You haven’t lived until you’ve spent an afternoon chasing ponies! Imagine trying to corral 28 hooved fireballs and get them ready for a vet. Fun!! Fun!!

These rascals ran feral on private land for close to a century until the new interstate came through and couple of soft headed, er.. hearted gals stepped up and took them in. Sometimes I feel as though I’ve been rounded up myself. Roped, tied and branded!

Sounds like a plan! Your ponds are seriously to die for…

While you’re here… just out of curiosity… How do you feel about rounding up wild ponies??? ^___^

Nice work Pam! As you know, I’m about to start a new build myself… Would you like to come visit for a few days?? πŸ˜€

BTW, Stacy, your vertical build is amazing. Very creative! I could see a tank like that working well for tree frogs.

I have 6 favorites. Do you have that much bandwidth? πŸ˜€

If I HAD to pick only one favorite though, it would be Crawdaunt. Even though he technically belongs to my daughter, he’s my little buddy. We knew early on that he was different. He will appear about the same time every evening and sit in the corner of his tank and watch tv for an hour or so (no joke) then eat and go on about his crabby business. His routine for 17 years. He rarely misses his tv time unless he is down molting or his schedule has been upset for some reason. We are guilty of rearranging the furniture to suit him, and the standing house rule is no shark or crabie offensive programs while he’s watching. ^.^
He is a sociable little guy when he wants to be and will most always allow my daughters and I to pet him without backing away and will occasionally climb onto a hand when offered. He has distinct likes and dislikes, including tank mates- he always seems to be best buds with the smallest crab in the tank and he dislikes pushy girls, i.e. Blossom.

So yeah, now our secret is out. Crawdaunt has us all wrapped around his little claw and he knows it!

Such a cutie! Not to worry though, a couple of good molts and little John will be good as new.

When I rescued Blossom, she didn’t have eyes, or much else… I had heard they can regenerate eyes but I was skeptical. They do have amazing regenerative abilities.

The Hermit Crab Patch is on the top of my Fave list as well. I prepare most of my crabs’ foods but some items are much easier or less expensive to buy. I’ve been buying from her since she first opened the internet shop and I’ve never been disappointed.

I am having shell issues myself. My daughter took most of the crabs (and shells) home with her- then brought two pps back as she has an aggressive ecuadorian and the re-introduction didn’t work out. One came home wearing a shell two sizes to small. I’ve bought 8 so far, and all are either to large or to small. He’s at that odd almost large but not quite size that’s hard to find anything for. So I am off to check out that shell shop in a few minutes.

Awww… I missed the crabby’s homecoming… *cry* “Happy Belated Homecoming little crabbies!!”

And such an amazing home to come home too… wow! Vanessa, the tank is amazing. (And my crew think they are spoiled… :D) You’ve got my vote for crabitat of the month. You got such cuties too!! Hopefully they are all getting settled in?

I apologize for being MIA lately. I’ve been getting slammed with work, 76,000 sets this month- an all time record. I am so ready to kick back, relax, chat with you ladies and take some serious R&R. (Please forgive me if I collapse from exhaustion! ;)) Lots of activity too, I’ve got so much to catch up on!
