Wow, I’ve never heard of anybody offering or keeping scaevolas. Those would be great candidates since they are from dry places, less work keeping humidity up.

Wow, great site, thanks for sharing. Lots of different species available. I think the only species not represented were the Aussies. Would love to order some Perlatus and Purpureus. Spent a ton of money on my fish this summer, will have to order some of these in the spring. May be adopting a large Indo and a large PP this week, will need to set up a much larger tank to place an order from Germany. 🙂 Will try to talk the mrs. into letting me set up a 180gal in the living room to replace the 53gal in the spring.

Is there a website for this supplier?

Yeah, gave up on it completely. Spending all of my money on my fish tank, anyway. Glad you found a place to get them. Is this a large supplier you’re getting them from?

Well, after sending several emails to LHC.com and getting no reply I finally had enough and contacted paypal. After working my way up a couple of levels at paypal I finally got a supervisor to send an email to LHC.com to tell them to give my a refund. Lo and behold, on 6/3/15 LHC.com gets back to me to offer to ship them or refund the money. I checked my email on 6/8 and said to ship them. On 6/14 I emailed them stating I had not received the crabs or a refund. 6/16 I receive a reply that the refund went through on 6/14 so they can’t ship but would have shipped them the next day if I hadn’t demanded a refund. They offered to let me re-order the crabs and they would ship next day.

I’m not going to re-order, I’m too disgusted with them at the moment. Maybe in the future I’ll order some straws if any place has anything smaller than jumbos. For now I’m just going to spend the money on my salt water fish tank, I still need tons of equipment for it so that is whee all of my disposable money is going for the near future.

On the MHCs, I bought a couple of Electric Orange Knuckle marine hermits, a larger Scarlett Reef hermit and another Dwarf Zebra hermit that is in a shell smaller than a marble. Hopefully I’ll be able to post some pics of the MHCs here soon.

I have plenty of spare shells, probably over one hundred, as I’m sure several here do. I’ll finally have a use for the D shaped shells other than as decorations. This past tuesday evening, my wife and I went to the beach for a walk and found thousands of snail shells had washed up from the storm the day before. I’m not used to finding empty snail shells on the beach, just live snails. Most were periwinkles but there were dozens of oblong d-shaped shells and some whale’s eye type shells. I was surprised to find a shell that was about 3″ wide, it looked like an enormous periwinkle.

No news on the order yet except my CC was charged for it. In the mean time I bought a complete 55 gallon salt water fish tank with nine fish in it. It came with 6 marine hermits, a Dwarf Zebra (you’d call it a small in LHC terms) an unknown tan MHC species about the size of a dime and four small Scarlet Reef hermits in shells about 1/4″ across. I bought a few more Scarlets, two Blue Leg MHCs and a single Red Leg MHC, all in long shells about 1/2″ in length. When I get my other 55gal tank set up for the LHCs and have the LiveHermitCrabs order in I’ll take some pics and post them.

Vanessa, are you from Australia? From what I understand, Australia is very strict about animals coming in or out. Do you have a hard time getting non-australian species there?

What I understand of the Aussie crabs from them is that they had a three year permit to bring in 10,000 crabs, or something like that. They didn’t get them during the first two years. They have had them on their site for a long time as “Coming Soon” and taking pre-orders. I intentionally waited to order until their site listed them as “in stock”, I refuse to pre-order anything from anyone as I have had people I know get burned when the item never became available. The automatic order confirmation says they will ship two weeks after the order is received.

No, never enough room. I’m getting a 55 gallon tank from a co-worker. I just need to talk the Mrs. into letting me replace the 38g in the living room. It would have to span the 3″ gap between the bookshelves on a piece of plywood. It would take up about 9″ of the second bookshelf but they could really use the floor space. Not sure if she’ll go for it, especially since she’s agreed to let me spend a couple thousand of our tax return on a 120 gallon salt water fish tank. I’ll then be able to keep marine hermits as well. There are at least six species I plan on keeping in it.

No clue. It just seemed to run out of steam and die. He was fairly active for a few days and then nothing, then death.

My crabs are weird. About four stay out and almost never bury themselves, the other five are rarely seen.

I still need to set up the other tank and connect them. Can’t convince my wife to let me take over the other book shelf next to the current tank. “One tank in the living room is enough”.

Uploading pics not working. Oh well.

I lost a crab this week, a medium PP. He was spending a lot of time in the water bowls for a couple of days. Then he was just sitting next to the food bowl for about 24 hours. He moved over to the end of the FW bowl and just sat there for about 24 hours and died during that time. He was sitting up with his eyes pulled under the front edge of his shell like he was sleeping.
