I had two hermit crabs at first and they were in a wire cage and since there was only gravel at the bottom one of my crabs began to surface molt. At the time I thought it was dead but I didn’t smell anything so I left it alone… A few days passed and it didn’t move and it didn’t go back into it’s shell when I poked it gently so I threw it out… I wanted to try and figure out why it died then I found your YouTube channel I don’t think that it was dead it was only surface molting. It killed me that I may have thrown out a live crab! From then on I decided I wanted to do better for my last crab (his name is Bubbles) so I got a glass fish tank for him and set up his crabitat following your YouTube and this website. I also got him some new crab friends and they all get along great with each other there are now 6 in total and I have had the new five ( Salty, Sandy, Tide, Ripple, and Misty) for about two months and I’ve had Bubbles for about a year. This website has helped me greatly with helping my crabs so thank you for all the information you have given me. Bubbles at first was never active and I never saw him out of his shell unless I was lucky at night. Now that he is in the proper temperature and humidity he is out and about all the time even during the day I see him eating almonds or climbing around the crabitat. There is no doubt in my mind that he would have died if I never found this website and fixed his living conditions. Honestly I think that I spoil all of my crabs now ! They even have a second level in their tank! Thank you for all of your help!!!!! I especially love the crabiscopes from the pet stores!!!!
